About the school

The story of Bhagavati Vidyalaya

Established in 1978, K.E.S’ Bhagavati Vidyalaya is an English medium school (Nursery to Std. X, SSC) run by Khandesh Education Society, Thane.

History

Khandesh Education Society was established in 1978 by Late Mrs. Rekha Kanitkar, a respected educationist and reformer. With a strong bond to her birthplace Dhule, she named the institution “Khandesh Education Society”.

As Thane grew rapidly, the need for English medium schools increased. The school began with a firm commitment to quality education, expanding across multiple rented premises due to overwhelming parent response.

In 1982, land (about 1000 sq. yards) was purchased, and construction began in 1988. The school shifted to its own building in June 1992, with classrooms, a hall, and open space for a playground—designed for natural light and ventilation.

A unique feature is that it is a single division school, enabling individual attention and giving every student the opportunity to participate and shine across curricular and co-curricular activities.
